Salary indicator: Circa £32,500 pa, plus shift allowance

Hours of work: Sunday to Saturday, operating on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 18:00 – 04:00/20:00 – 06:00 as dictated by the customer. Flexing of shift patterns may be requested by the customer in order to support out of normal hours requirements. On call support of Bank Holidays and out of hours (OOH) as part of a rota.

Role Description: Based at a customer’s premises the primary responsibility of the Service Contract Engineer is to:-
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide resource to cover patching, testing, fault fixing and installations.
• Be proactive and able to address and resolve issues independently.
• Knowledge of Data Centre technologies/solutions; cold-aisle containment, power, cooling, resilient solution design.
• Racking and decommissioning of hardware, e.g., servers, switches, miscellaneous devices.
• Installation of “plug and play” managed power strips (no electrical terminations to be undertaken).
• On call (OOH) as part of a rota – 60 minutes response time.
• Attain and maintain a level of knowledge and capability of SpliceGroup solutions to perform break-fix and small project implementation on both copper and fibre, (including fusion splice & test)
• Maintain documentation.
• Compilation of statistics and analysis of data.
• Report writing.
• Manage stock levels of all materials on site.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and best practice health & safety and environmental requirements on site.
Qualifications:
• Formal education to minimum of GCSE O Grade.
• Formal training in fibre splicing and testing, City & Guilds preferred.
• Formal training in copper structured cabling, City & Guilds preferred.
Essential:
• Experience in the installation of multi-disciplined cabling systems.
• Experience of working in data centre environment.
• Experience of working in high profile/time pressured environments
• The ability to confidently communicate and present at all levels.
• Fibre splicing.
• ILM and OTDR testing of MM and SM fibre networks.
• Fibre and Copper Patching and documentation.
• Knowledge of the Data Communications sector.
• IT Literate – Microsoft office suite.
• Live within 1 hours travel of customer site.
• Full clean UK driving license.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of Data Centre technologies/solutions; cold-aisle containment, power, cooling, resilient solution design, security access.
• Experience of Data Centre Management tools.
• Experience of managing teams.
